You know what the project is. The server is past end of life, the office is moving, or email needs to move to Microsoft 365. The question is who does the work.

Projects we take on
Each one gets its own scope and quote. If yours isn’t listed, ask us.
Your server needs replacing or retiring.
It’s out of warranty or no longer getting updates. A server replacement means we move what it runs to new hardware or to the cloud, then shut the old one down properly.
You’re moving to Microsoft 365 or the cloud.
We move email, files and accounts off an old server or another Microsoft 365 account. Then we check that mail and permissions came across correctly. More on Microsoft 365
You’re moving offices or building out a new space.
Most of an office IT relocation is planning. We line up the cabling, Wi-Fi, internet and phones ahead of moving day, so your staff can start working the first morning.
Your network needs an upgrade.
The network may be slow, patched together or out of support. We upgrade the network infrastructure, including the firewall, switches and Wi-Fi, and write down how it’s all set up.
You’re changing phone systems.
We move your numbers to the new system or carrier and make sure the desk phones work the day you switch. See business phone systems
Your insurer or auditor asked for something you don’t have.
Cyber insurance forms and audits often ask for things like multi-factor sign-in (a code from your phone when you log in) or encrypted laptops. We set them up and give you notes you can use to answer the question.
How a project runs
IT project management is included in every quote.
We talk through what needs to happen.
It’s a short call about what you’re replacing or moving, and what has to keep running while we work.
You get a fixed quote in writing.
It lists the price, the timeline and what isn’t included, before any work starts.
We schedule it around your business.
Anything that takes systems offline happens after hours or on a weekend.
We do the work and keep you posted.
You’ll hear from us as each step is finished.
We walk you through what changed.
You also get written notes that your staff or IT person can use later.
We can work alongside your IT person or IT company
You don’t have to switch providers to hire us for a project. We plan with whoever runs your IT now, and we hand everything back when we’re done.
If your IT person needs help beyond one project, take a look at co-managed IT.
Already a managed client? Ask through your support portal and we’ll scope it with you.
A Mechanicsville CPA firm moved off a server it didn’t control
For more than ten years, the firm’s server sat in their old IT company’s datacenter. We moved the firm to Microsoft Azure and its email to Microsoft 365, and replaced the rented equipment with network gear the firm owns.

How projects work
How are projects priced?
Each project gets a fixed quote in writing before any work starts. The quote spells out what’s included, so the price only changes if the job does.
What if the scope changes partway through?
We’ll stop and talk to you first. Anything outside the original quote gets its own written price, and we don’t do it until you approve it.
Will our staff lose work time?
We work hard to keep that to a minimum. Work that takes systems offline is scheduled after hours or on a weekend, and we let your staff know ahead of time what to expect.
Working with us
Do we need to be a managed client?
No. You can hire us for one project and nothing else.
Can you work with our IT person or current IT company?
Yes. We plan the work with them and hand it back with written notes when we’re done.
What’s the difference between a project and Managed Services?
A project has a start, an end and one fixed price. With Managed Services, we run your IT every day for one flat fee per user each month.
